I really need to brush up on my Old English

I used to be able to read this without the translation!!

But then, I'd also taught myself some Tolkien-ian Elvish. You know, enough to get by in Rivendell.

I can't tell you how excited I got when I found this Website for those wanting to study Old English.

Oh, yeah. I can out-dork you Any. Day. Of the week. Bring it on!

I dunno - you have some stiff Dork competition. Mer has the opening lines of Chaucer's Canterbury Tales memorized in Middle English...

She can read some of Beowulf in Old English as well...

Nah, Mere's got nothin' on my honey-dork! Jo played D&D, watched Dr. Who, and downloads literally dozens of podcasts on medieval history. And, I may add, she has a blog.

Consider Mere served!

Oh, and speaking of Beowulf, let Meredith know you need to see the Beowulf movie coming out in November! You know, 'cuz it's an important piece of literature. The fact that Angelina Jolie is playing Grendel (yes, I'm serious) has nothing to do with it...

Oh, and in the previews, Grendel seems to be naked and seductive a lot.

I love literature!

Huh. Jolie actually is playing Grendel's mom; not Grendel. Neil Gaiman wrote the screenplay, so it might actually be worth something.
